چکیده

The biosorption characteristic of Cu(II) using live and dead cells of Yarrowia lipolytica as biosorbents have been investigated in the present research. Biosorption of Cu(II) was enhanced with an increase in pH, temperature, agitation, contact time and initial concentration of the metal ion. It was observed that dead and live biomass efficiently removed copper at 30 min at an initial pH of 5.0. Temperature of 35oC was optimum at agitation speed of 150 or 200 rpm. For initial copper concentrations of 1-200 mg · dm, the adsorption data provide an excellent fit to the Langmuir isotherm. Experimental maximum biosorption capacity turned out to be 12.56 mg · g for living material and 14.31 mg · g for dead sorbents, respectively.

Application of Live, Dead and Dried Biomasses of Aspergillus Versicolor for Cadmium Biotreatment

Background: Various industries produce and discharge wastes containing different heavy metals into the environment. Apart from using living biomass, dead and dried biomasses have been introduced as a new field of biotreatment technology. Method: The cadmium (Cd) (II) removal characteristics of live (growing), dead (autoclaved), and oven-dried biomasses of Aspergillus versicolor were examined a...

The Potential of the Photoautotroph Synechocystis for Metal Bioremediation

The photoautotrophic cyanobacterium Synechocystis PCC6803 has received much attention as a model photosynthetic cell factory for the production of a range of important biotech products. The biomass remaining from this activity may then have further utility in processes such as metal bioremediation. In addition Synechocystis being an inhabitant of many natural aquatic environments is seen as an ...

Copper isotope fractionation during surface adsorption and intracellular incorporation by bacteria.

Copper isotopes may prove to be a useful tool for investigating bacteria-metal interactions recorded in natural waters, soils, and rocks. However, experimental data which attempt to constrain Cu isotope fractionation in biologic systems are limited and unclear. In this study, we utilized Cu isotopes (δ(65)Cu) to investigate Cu-bacteria interactions, including surface adsorption and intracellula...

Uranium and Thorium Upake by Live and Dead Cells of Bacillus Sp

Bacillus Sp. was isolated near the mining area and was studied for biosorption U and Th. This study presents uptake of uranium (U) and thorium (Th) by live and dead cells of Bacillus Sp. Increasing concentration of U and Th showed decrease in absorption by Bacillus Sp. Dead cells of Bacillus Sp. exhibited same or more uptake of U and Th than living cells. Increasing temperature promotes uptake ...
